Ambulance Transfer and Emergency Care or better known as A-TEC was started on June 16, 1986 by Ralph and Rita Troeger in Sycamore, IL. They felt that there was a need for a quality transport service, and they could better meet the needs of the community. A-TEC takes pride in giving honest, professional service, and providing the communities they service with the highest level of Pre-Hospital care that they need and deserve. In 1987, A-TEC became a licensed Paramedic Ambulance Service. Since that time, A-TEC has grown into other areas providing the same quality service for DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, McHenry, and Lake Counties. It was here that the words of CEO Ralph Troeger became a reality.....

For the last 20 years A-TEC Ambulance has been a actively participating member of both the America Ambulance Association , and the Illinois State Ambulance Association . At A-TEC we know that the only way to stay up-to-date with the changes in the ambulance industry is to stay connected. We send key personnel to represent A-TEC and bring back information regarding many topics including Medicare billing regulations. A-TEC Ambulance is not just following the leader, but helping to blaze the path. For the last 15 years A-TEC Ambulance has held a seat on the Board of Directors for the Illinois State Ambulance Association. A-TEC is helping shape the EMS industry in Illinois by pushing for laws and regulations to help ensure that EMS in the state of Illinois will thrive.

A-TEC Ambulance takes great pride in out patient care. We have taken many steps to ensure that we have only the newest and best in pre-hospital patient care technology, but tools of the trade are only a small part of our patient care. Our crew members are what really make A-TEC Ambulance “A Caring Company”. Each crew member undergoes a pre-employment screening process to ensure we have the most qualified personnel. Once a crew member is employed with A-TEC Ambulance they under go ongoing training from both A-TEC Ambulance and the EMS system. Once A-TEC has taken a patient into our care we will remain with our patient until that patients care has been transfered to the new facility. For a "wait and return" call, for example to a doctors office or an MRI center, A-TEC will remain with our patient throughout the procedure and return the patient back to your facility. This makes it unnecessary to send a facility staff member along for the trip, and creates peace of mind knowing that patient care can be given in the event of an emergency.
